This is a private, non-commercial website for the purposes of sharing Bones’ interest in technology, curiosity, and discovery. For this reason we have no need to collect any more information than necessary to serve the content of the website to you, while ensuring the performance and security of our website.

The data we collect directly through your use of the website can be divided into two categories.

Every time you (or any visitor) access our website, the internet browser used on your device (computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.) automatically sends information to the server of our website. This information is temporarily stored in a log file on our web server. The following data will be collected without your intervention and stored until automated deletion:

Our legitimate interest in accordance with Art. 6 § 1 sentence 1 lit. f DSGVO for the collection of these data is based on the following purposes:

  • Ensuring a smooth connection setup and comfortable use of the website
  • Evaluation of system security and stability
  • Further administrative purposes.

We never collect data for the purpose of drawing conclusions about you or otherwise profiling you.

Data You Voluntarily Submit

In addition to the technically required data, if you choose to submit a comment or contact us via our contact page, you provide us with certain data.

  • Your Comment/Message
  • Your IP Address

When posting a comment your name and the comment becomes publicly visible to all visitors of the page to which you posted the comment. Your email address remains collected for the purpose of identifying you later should you wish to have the content corrected or removed. Your email addressed will never be shared nor will your IP address which is collected in order to filter known sources of spam.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name and email address in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.

When sending a contact request, all information is collected on our server but never disclosed or shared.

In order to maintain a secure website and ensure the availability and stability of our site, we employ a number of third-party services, which are described below.

LiteSpeed Cache

This site utilizes caching in order to facilitate a faster response time and better user experience. Caching potentially stores a duplicate copy of every web page that is on display on this site. All cache files are temporary, and are never accessed by any third party, except as necessary to obtain technical support from the cache plugin vendor. Cache files expire on a schedule set by the site administrator, but may easily be purged by the admin before their natural expirations, if necessary.

Google reCaptcha

We use the reCaptcha service of Google in order to establish whether a contact request or comment submitted on the website is completed by a natural person or fraudulently by an automated machine-operated process (a bot).

The following data are provided to Google for this purpose:

  • Referrer URL (the address of the page from which the user arrived at the site)
  • IP address
  • Operating system details
  • Cookies
  • Mouse and keyboard behavior
  • Date and language settings
  • All Javascript objects
  • Screen resolution

Our justified interests as per Art. 6 § 1 (f) of the GDPR serve as the legal basis for processing these data.

Wordfence Security

Wordfence increases the security of our website by providing the following functions, among others:

  • Virus scanner of website files
  • Etc.

For example, to detect brute force attacks as mentioned above, Wordfence stores the IP address of our visitors.

Embedded Videos

We may occasionally embed videos from YouTube into the content pages of renaissancedork.com. Details of your interaction with these videos are not captured or stored by our website.

However, Google, the parent company of YouTube, does use cookies when rendering the video and track information about its playback. Further details about the information YouTube collects and Google’s privacy policy can be found here.

Duration of Data Storage
